Matt Malone is an iconoclastic singer-songwriter from the Victorian goldfields, Australia. Malone is known for his bold baritone and tenebrous lyricism, often compared to Jim Morrison, Glenn Danzig, Mark Lanegan and Michael Gira. He has shared the stage with Kim Salmon (Beasts Of Bourbon), Hugo Race (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) and Sacred Cowboys, performing on stages both nationally and abroad, carving out a cult following through his intense and visceral performances.
In 2023, he released the critically-acclaimed For The Term Of My Natural Life (VRS Records), followed by Made In The Image, Vol 1 featuring I’m Bad Like Jesse James shared by the John Lee Hooker estate. He’s joined by The Holy Spirits who feature James W. du Plessis on drums, electric slide guitarist Benny “The Gentleman” Mc (Black Smith Hopkins / Pete Wells) and Nick Potts (The Moffs). The band performed at The St. Kilda Blues Fest ‘26 to rave reviews.
Matt Malone & The Holy Spirits completed recording with Loki Lockwood (Spooky Records, The Drones, Spencer P. Jones) and released the single Wolfman on Halloween ‘25 followed by Jealousy on
Valentine’s Day ‘26.
