As a live act, no video can really recreate the experience that gleans such ecstatic audience response. An undeniable powerhouse, world class musicianship, dynamic, passionate and playful, Checkerboard are the very essence of a live music experience.
PSI PHI • 8pm

This supergroup boasts a burgeoning repertoire of originals, blended with some iconic and formidable covers. PSI PHI evoke the gods & monsters of the golden age of rock with virtuosity and intensity.
Georgia Fields • 7pm

The sonic shapeshifter blends electric guitar and mini-synth with live-looped percussion, beatboxing, samples, and vocal harmonies to create complex arrangements in real time. As the Sydney Morning Herald says: “Georgia Fields dreams in fantastic technicolor”.
Fields has been a darling of the Naarm independent music scene for almost two decades. Her third album Hiraeth (2022) was met with critical acclaim, receiving four stars from The Australian, who praised its “meticulously crafted art-pop arrangements”. In 2026, Fields unveiled two new singles, Chameleon and Night Swimming, the former premiered by Frankie Magazine and the latter selected as a PBS FM Feature Track. The songs offer a glimpse into her forthcoming fourth album, due in 2027, where she pushes further into her distinctive brand of melodic, left-of-field pop.

Dan Dinnen & Shorty • 4pm
Dan Dinnen & Shorty dish up a delicious serve of bluesy gumbo goodness, guaranteed to please. Original tunes and cherry-picked standards laid down with hypnotic fingerpicking guitar, peppered with tasty blues harp, wrapped up and driven along by lush drums ‘n’ percussion. With a pulsing, swinging juke-joint groove, it’s a little bit delta swamp, a little bit hill country, a lot its own flavour.
Dan Dinnen has collected a swag of Australian blues music awards for his solo work, songwriting, and collaborations. Dan’s original repertoire - ranging from soulful, searching ballads to rambunctious juke-joint grooves - draws on a wide range of blues styles, and on the rich vein of blues singer-songwriters, past and present.
“One of the most authentic blues voices on the scene, with a truly individual sound,” Helen Jennings PBSfm. Anthony “Shorty” Shortte is an astoundingly original drummer whose feel is grounded in deep Southern grooves. Shorty is well regarded for his past work with the original line up of ARIA award winning blues act Collard Greens and Gravy, and for his current work with Opelousas.
Tim Scanlan & Mana Okubo • 3pm
One man band Tim Scanlan teams up with fiddler Mana Okubo from Japans ‘John John Festival', mixing ancient tunes and drones with modern beats and sounds. Equally at home playing a midnight spot in a nightclub in Tokyo, and a Sunday arvo session at a cafe near Bonnie Doon, the duo produce a sound going from acoustic sing along chant songs to huge kick drum, fiddle flying over bass drones dance tunes. They've played festivals around Australia and the world including Interceltique Festival in France, Vancouver Folk Festival in Canada, Morimichi-Ichiba in Japan and the legendary Electric Picnic in Ireland. Songs for travelling, tunes for dancing, a festival goer most recently described the live gig as something like a psychedelic ceili.
