Dean Lombard (solo) and Tony Millman (solo) bring some poignant melodrama to the last Thursday night of this crazy year with their idiosyncratic takes on ambient ephemera and lyrical pre-punk post-pop.
When not drumming for Dear Buffalo, guitaring for The Phosphenes or bassing for the ‘Scray City Rollers, Dean Lombard throws quirky and poignant songs about love, loss, life, death, power, propaganda, violence and redemption into the air, where they leap frantically from sparse guitar to soulful harmonica to keep from falling into the void.
Composer, musician, collaborator and entertainer Tony Millman’s material is often regarded as too dark for the dinner crowd. He prefers a drinking, attentive and unmediated audience. His repertoires range from songs to instrumentals, from gospel to folk-opera, from atmospheric to visceral. His vinyl LPs sell for 100 Euros each and rising.
