Agus Batara Quartet will bring 2 sets of original jazz infused with warm guitar sound to The Edinburgh Castle. The band came into formation in 2017 through their debut performance at the Castlemaine Jazz Festival and later that year at the Halls Gap Jazz Festival. Agus Batara (keys/ band leader) draws his unique song writing style from a mix of jazz root tradition, modern funk and wider ‘world’ music influence inspired by idols like Bill Evans, Brad Mehldau, Avishai Cohen(b), Tigran Hamasyah, EST and more. The quartet’s unique repertoire often evokes an imaginative landscape, place or story beyond their melodic, harmonic or rhythmic ideas.
